Preparation of synthetic or organic pigments (I) comprises contacting a plant part (A) with a solvent, separating the dye contained within (A) in the solvent, contacting the obtained dye extract with at least two precipitating agent and carrying out the precipitation reaction to precipitate a pigment, which exhibits a carrier to which the pigment is bound, where a petal is used as (A). An independent claim is also included for a pigment, having water-soluble and/or oil soluble salts as carrier to which a colorant is bound, where the colorant occurs naturally in petals of plants.
