<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoding method, an image decoding apparatus, and an imaging apparatus capable of easily making a noted object prominent. <P>SOLUTION: A coded data extraction section 10 extracts coded data from a received coded image. An entropy decoding section 12 decodes the coded data by each bit plane to obtain a quantized wavelet transform coefficient. A motion detection section 18 detects a position of a designated object and its motion vector. A ROI setting section 20 moves a ROI region corresponding to them. An inverse quantization section 14 adjusts the number of lower-order bits to be replaced into a zero value in a bit stream of the wavelet transform coefficient corresponding to a non ROI region in response to the relative priority of the ROI region with respect to the non ROI region to inversely quantize the resulting wavelet transform coefficient. A wavelet inverse conversion section 16 applies inverse conversion to the wavelet transform coefficient subjected to the inverse quantization and outputs an obtained decoded image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
