PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trimming imaging apparatus with a simple configuration capable of obtaining a consecutive zoom effect even when the focal length of an optical system is switched and suppressing image quality deterioration while ensuring a zoom effect nearly equal to that of an optical zoom lens. SOLUTION: The trimming imaging apparatus includes: a multi focal length variable power optical system whose focal length is switched between a first focal length being a short focal length and a second focal length being a long focal length; an imaging means for converting an object image formed by the multi focal length variable power optical system into an electronic image; an image processing means for forming object images with field angles corresponding to the focal lengths of the multi focal length variable power optical system from the output of the imaging means; and a trimming means for forming a trimming image with a narrower field angle than field angles f1, f2 corresponding to the first and second focal lengths by using the object image by the image processing means for an original image, and when the setting field angle of the trimming means is changed, the focal length of the multi focal length variable power optical system is switched and driven between the field angle f2 and a field angle f5 narrower than the field angle f2.
