PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a SMART battery pack whereby a manufacturing cost of an electronic apparatus using it can be reduced, and a battery type discriminating method using it. SOLUTION: This SMART battery pack includes at least one battery cell 110 connected to an external set 200 by an anode terminal P<SP>+</SP>and a cathode terminal P<SP>-</SP>, a timer circuit 120 which is connected to the external set 200 through a data terminal DATA and which impresses a prescribed voltage for a fixed period of time if a prescribed signal is impressed from the external set 200, a first switch 130 to impress the power supply of the battery cell by the timer circuit 120, a resistor 140 to output the prescribed signal by impressing the power supply of the battery cell 110, and a control part 150 to output information about battery types by the signal of the resistor 140.
