PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling device optical coupling a face type optical element to an optical transmission body such as an optical fiber without occupying much space with high alignment accuracy and without the need for increasing the number of components and improving process controllability. SOLUTION: The optical coupling device is provided with: the face type optical element having a light emitting function and/or a light receiving function; a structure body which is arranged on the face type optical element and has a V-groove and a stop wall formed by Si anisotropic etching; and an optical transmission body fixed by the V-groove and a stop wall of the structure body. The optical transmission body has a reflecting surface at least on one end face, and the face type optical element is optically coupled to the optical transmission body via the side face of the optical transmission body.
