PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge treatment apparatus which enables a high treatment efficiency and an increase of the life of an ultrasonic vibrator by separating cellulosic fibrous material, especially such as toilet paper, from wastewater before being introduced into an ultrasonic treatment device. SOLUTION: The sludge treatment apparatus has the ultrasonic vibrator 14 in an ultrasonic treatment tank 50, and comprises a turbulent sedimentation tank 20 which introduces the wastewater from the lower part, and leads out a part of the introduced wastewater from the upper part and leads out the other wastewater from the lower part, and a swirl separation tank 30 which introduces the wastewater from the upper part of the turbulent sedimentation tank 20, and rotates the introduced wastewater and leads it out from the upper part.
