PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily visually confirm positional relation between the distal end of an insertion part and a living body from an outer part at an insertion position to the living body when the insertion part for observing the inner part of the living body is inserted to the living body. SOLUTION: A living body observing apparatus includes an objective unit 20 having the long and thin insertion part 23 to be inserted to the living body. The objective unit 20 includes an observation window 21 on the distal end surface 20a of the insertion part 23. The instrument includes a light emitting part 25 on the side surface of the insertion part 23 which is arranged in the rear part of the distal end surface 20a in an insertion direction.
