Disclosed are a method and a device for reducing strip sabers during milling of a metal strip (1). Said method comprises the following steps: - the position and/or a pressure applied to an adjacent component (3) from at least one edge of the metal strip (1) is measured upstream and/or downstream of a roll stand; and - the roll gap geometry is adjusted in order to reduce the strip saber.
