The missile (10) has fuel cell propulsion, whereby one or more fuel cells provides electrical energy for the propelling the missile. The propulsion unit (32) comprises at least one impeller or propeller. The fuel cell system (22) which comprises at least one fuel cell has at least one tank (26,28) for fuel and/or for an oxidater. The fuel used is hydrogen, and the oxidater is oxygen. The tanks may be positioned side by side, or one behind the other. The fuel cell is located on the center plane (12) of the missile. An independent claim is included for a use of fuel cells for the provision of electrical energy to power a propeller or impeller of a missile.
