The locking unit for the backrest (1) of the back seat of a car is assembled of a main part (41), the catch element (42), and the bearing bolt (44) for the movable catch (42). The main part (41) is u-shaped and screwed to the rear area (2) of the passenger cabin. The catch element (42), made of rigid plastic, has one u-shaped end (422), a cranked shaft (421), and an opposite end bent into a rectangle. The bearing bolt (44) is guided transversally across the shaft (421) and the u-shaped end (422) engages with a rotating catch (31) at a base located at the backrest (1).
