An orientable mounting for optical and/or photo-cinematographic equipment comprising at least one universal joint (5) having a first (6) and a second (7) joint component means including hydrostatic pressure means and actuator means, the said hydrostatic pressure means comprising a first (13) and a second (17) piston member, characterised in that the said actuator means comprise a first actuator member (30) for operative control of the second piston member (17) in order to generate the preselected immobilising load between the joint components (6, 7) and a second separated actuator member (35) to selectively control the second piston member (17) in generating a relative friction load between the joint components (6, 7) independently of the immobilising load obatined through control of the first actuator member (30).
