<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrophotographic roller adapted to a method wherein a roller-shaped article to be coated (base layer roller) is immersed so that the longitudinal direction thereof is vertical and subsequently drawn up to form a coating film (surface layer) to the periphery of the article to be coated to prevent the occurrence of a coating film flaw such as irregularity, a longitudinal stripe or the like in the range from the upper end part of the roller to the central part thereof at the time of drawing-up to obtain a uniform film thickness, and the electrophotographic roller. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the electrophotographic roller, the electrophotographic roller is adapted to a method wherein the roller shaped article to be coated having an almost uniform outer diameter is immersed in a coating material of which the viscosity and temperature are adjusted constant so that the longitudinal direction thereof is vertical and subsequently drawn up to form the coating film to the outer periphery of the article to be coated. When the drawing-up of the article to be coated is started, the drawing-up of the article to be coated is performed at a constant speed which is 70% or below of the maximum drawing-up speed within the range from the upper end part of the roller to a part of 2% of the total length of the roller or below and subsequently performed at a speed reduced from the maximum speed to obtain a uniform film thickness.
