<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing the conveyance control of recording paper optimum for the present condition of the image forming apparatus when the abnormality of a conveyance system is detected on optimum reference and the incidence rate of the abnormality of the conveyance system becomes high. <P>SOLUTION: First, whether or not the present system elapsed time exceeds a predetermined threshold is determined (step 104). If it exceeds the predetermined threshold, paper conveyance learning time is obtained by multiplying paper conveyance standard time by a time coefficient corresponding to the system elapse time (step 106), and an adjusting value is added to the obtained paper conveyance learning time, whereby paper conveyance abnormality detecting time is obtained (step 108). Next, paper conveyance measuring time is compared with the paper conveyance abnormality detecting time (step 110). When the paper conveyance measuring time exceeds the paper conveyance abnormality detecting time, it is regarded as the occurrence of jamming, and the number of jamming times is counted up (step 114).
