<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state detection unit for a belt-type continuously variable transmission which can highly reliably judges the trouble of a common grounding wire to which a plurality of sensors are integrally connected. <P>SOLUTION: When an engine is judged to be started, it is judged whether an AD value Ssec detected by a secondary pressure sensor 113 is the maximum AD value Ssec(max) or not in the step 120. If the AD value Ssec is Ssec(max), it is judged whether an AD value Spri detected by a primary pressure sensor 112 is the maximum AD value Spri(max) or not in the step 130. If the AD value Spri is Spri(max), it is judged whether an AD value Stmp detected by an oil temperature sensor 111 is the maximum AD value Stmp(max) or not in the step 140. In the step 140, if the AD value Stmp is Stmp(max), a timer is started in the step 160, and the steps 110 to 140 are repeated until up-counting is completed in the step 170.
