The hockey stick comprises a hooked flat-sided end secured to a hollow stick with straight centre line having its lower end laterally flattened and with a gradual transition to its round-section upper end with grip portion, the open top being closed by a cap. The hollow stick consists of light-alloy such as an Al or Mg alloy. The flattened lower end of the stick pref. fits around the upper end of the hook over an axial length at least approx. equal to the width at that level. The stick may be filled with a damping substance such as polyurethane foam.
