PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently react an air with a negative ion generating substance when an air cleaner of an engine is improved by the negative ion generating substance. SOLUTION: This air cleaner improving device for the engine comprises a negative ion generating plate formed in a plate-like body by applying the negative ion generating substance on both surfaces thereof and supporting legs supporting the negative ion generating plate so that a space can be formed between an installation surface for the negative ion generating plate and a surface facing the installation surface. In this configuration, when the device is disposed near the air filter, the air is brought into contact with both surfaces of the negative ion generating plate, and the air is allowed to react more efficiently than in a case where the air is brought into contact with one surface only.
