PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently gas-seal spaces divided into both sides via a plurality of solid electrolytes, and to stably join connected metal foil members to each other even in the case of rapid thermal shock to an oxygen pump element. SOLUTION: The oxygen pump element is provided with: a plurality of solid electrolytes 7 having oxygen ion conductivity; electrode membranes 8, 9 formed on both the sides of the solid electrolytes 7 having oxygen ion conductivity and composing both positive and negative poles; and metal foil members 15 joined with the outer circumferential part of the electrode membrane on the positive electrode side or the outer circumferential part of the electrode membrane on the negative electrode side. The plurality of electrodes in the oxygen pump element are formed in a series circuit, and the plurality of metal foil members 15 are connected via a glass ceramic layer 24. Thus, even in the case a plurality of solid electrolytes are connected to the series circuit, sufficient insulation is maintained, and further, gas sealing can be maintained without causing cracks or peeling even in the case of rapid thermal shock.
