IMAGE PRINTER, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INSPECTING PRINTED RESULT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate a timing of scanning according to a stable detection value to improve inspection accuracy of a printed result by determining a speed detection position by considering a transient time.

SOLUTION: An image reading device of an inspection device for inspecting a printed result by a printing section sequentially reads a surface of a conveyed paper sheet 50 at a prescribed timing of scanning to acquire inspection image data of an image printed on the paper sheet 50. The timing of scanning is calculated based on a paper conveyance speed detected by an upstream side encoder 52 and a downstream side encoder 54. A distance W1 between an upstream side detection position Sa of the speed detection position of the upstream side encoder 52 and the image reading position R is not less than a distance that the paper sheet 50 is conveyed during the transient time period from the starting of the detection of the speed by the upstream side encoder 52 until the stable detection value is obtained. A distance W2 between the upstream side detection position Sa and a downstream side detection position Sb is smaller than a length Wp of the paper sheet 50 to be conveyed in the conveyance direction thereof.
