PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy to set a rule to be applied to a plurality of folders and a rule applied for each holder to improve efficiency in document management. SOLUTION: A document management device manages document data by using a plurality of folders hierarchically correlated to one another, sets a rule for naming identification names of document data in units of folders, determines the identification names of document data by using a naming rule set for folders of the registration destination of the document data, and registers the identification names with the folders. When instructions for using a naming rule set to a hierarchically high-order folder of a folder to be set for a naming rule is made in setting a naming rule, the naming rule for the high-order folder is used as the naming rule for a file to be set for a naming rule.
