PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a fixing apparatus suppressing concentrated abrasion on the surfaces of fixing rolls by an edge of a recording medium without restricting the type of the recording medium in the image forming apparatus using the fixing apparatus of a heat roll method. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus is provide with a first transporting path transporting the recording medium with the image formed on it and a pair of fixing rolls, of which at least one is a heating roll, fixing an image by holding and transporting the recording medium transported from the first transporting path and the pair of the fixing rolls have their rotating shafts installed to be in parallel to a transporting surface of the first transporting path and inclined in the transporting direction of the recording medium in the first transporting path.
