PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an improvement in the freedom of the movable section of an optical element, an increase in variable magnification rate, and miniaturization in the cam mechanism of the zoom lens barrel which moves the optical element in a direction of an optical axis by each of the cam grooves of a cam ring. SOLUTION: The zoom lens barrel includes: the cam ring having the plurality of cam grooves of different locuci on its circumferential face and rotated; and a plurality of movable frames having followers fitted in the corresponding cam grooves of the cam ring and moved straight in the direction of the optical axis. Each cam groove has a zoom section in which the corresponding movable frame is moved between a wide-end position and a tele-end position in the optical direction as the cam ring rotates. In the zoom lens barrel, a zoom end stop area where even when the cam ring rotates, each movable frame is not moved in the direction of the optical axis from the wide-end position to the tele-end position is provided so as to continue from the end of the zoom section of each cam groove.
