PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for efficiently expanding fiber bundle in uniform thickness and uniform width. SOLUTION: The machine works as follows: a fiber bundle 2 comprising an assembly of a plurality of filaments as a fiber-expanding object, and using a roll cage 20, as a means for expanding the fiber bundle 2, constituted of a plurality of rolls 22 arranged in parallel to one another in the circumferential direction and undergoing rotation by a driving means, the fiber bundle 2 is wound under tension around the roll cage 20 and expanded through the sliding contact with the rolls 22.
