PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type endoscope by which NBI and general color image observation are used together to improve diagnostic accuracy. SOLUTION: This capsule type endoscope includes at least an illuminating means 2 to illuminate an object, an imaging means to image the object, and a transparent cover 3 to cover the illuminating means 2 and the imaging means. The illuminating means is structured so that two conditions can be selected, one is a condition A to emit light so as to include three color wavelength components of blue, green, and red in illuminating light received by an object, and the other is a condition B to emit light so as to include two or less components among three color wave length components of blue, green, and red in illuminating light received by an object. Brightness of an object image obtained by the imaging means when the condition B is selected as an illuminating condition of the illuminating means is 20% or higher of brightness of the object image obtained by the imaging means when the condition A is selected as an illuminating condition of the illuminating means.
