PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight inexpensive spinning reel wherein the straight reciprocal movement of a spool in the front and rear direction without waving is secured. SOLUTION: This spinning reel has a reel body 100, a handle 200 axially supported by the reel body 100 so as to be freely rotatable, the spool 300 reciprocally moving in the front and rear direction so as to be interlocked with the rotation of the handle 200 through a transmission structure 8, and a rotor 400 for winding or unwinding a fishline around the spool 300 by rotating around an axis line in the front and rear direction so as to be interlocked with the rotation of the handle 200 through the transmission structure 8. The reel body 100 comprises a metallic frame member 5 formed into a flat body the whole of which stands vertically along the nearly front and rear direction, and a right and left pair of plastic lid members 6 and 7 forming a right and left pair of mutually communicating chambers so as to sandwitch the frame member 5 from both the right and left directions of the frame member 5.
