INFLUENZA VACCINE BASED ON FOWL PLAGUE VIRUSES

The invention relates to the production of classic fowl plague viruses of the A/FPV/Ro/34 (H7N1) strain using a system of reverse genetics and to the production of mutants of said virus strain, whose genome corresponds as closely as possible to the wild-type strain. Said mutants are immunogenic, or at least non-pathogenic in contrast to the wild-type strain of the fowl plague virus (FPV). Said system also permits the introduction of surface antigens of other highly pathogenic fowl viruses into the FPV genome. The recombinant FPVs are used as starter viruses for producing an inactive vaccine against the influenza virus.
