The mechanism (20) has a variable stroke stop for a valve closing unit (30), and a throttle device. The stroke stop is designed at a valve lock piston, which is movably accommodated in a housing body. A pressure stage is formed at the piston. The piston consists of a connecting hole, which creates a flow connection between the mechanism and a central clearance hole in the piston, independent of position of the piston. An independent claim is also included for a fuel injection system, in particular common-rail system, with a fuel high pressure accumulator.
