PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing toner containing a finely dispersed wax and superior in glossiness. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the toner includes a step of melting and kneading a composition containing a binder resin, a colorant and 3-20 pts. wt. of a wax with respect to 100 pts. wt. of the binder resin and cooling the resulting kneaded material without rolling, wherein the surface area per unit volume of the kneaded material in the cooling is 1.5-8.0 mm<SP>2</SP>/mm<SP>3</SP>.
