PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imitation bamboo joint printing method having a simplified structure, requiring not so high installation cost and not lowering yield and productivity of product without interruption of continuous molding of the imitation bamboo by eliminating a spiral rail on which a printing machine travels and a self-propelling mechanism of the printing machine, and its apparatus. SOLUTION: The imitation bamboo joint printing method comprises a process for detecting the position of the joint of the imitation bamboo W extruded through continuous molding, a process for making the imitation bamboo W grasp the printing machine 3, a process for printing color and pattern to the joint of the imitation bamboo W with the printing machine 3, a process for unloading the printing machine 3 from the imitation bamboo W and a process for returning the printing machine 3 to its original position. Further, the apparatus comprises a sensor 5 for detecting the joint of the continuously molded imitation bamboo W, the printing machine 3 for printing color and pattern to the joint of the imitation bamboo W, grasping mechanisms 6 for making the imitation bamboo W to grasp the printing machine 3 and a returning mechanism 7 for returning the printing machine 3 to the original position, which are provided on a device main body 1.
