An assembly winds paper or cardboard onto a forming sleeve to form a cylindrical paper roll that is subsequently cut into uniform lengths. During the roll-forming process the roll under formation rests on a roller bed. The assembly further has a lift/lower platform (8) that accepts the finished rolls (4, 5, 6, 7). The lift/lower platform has front (10) and rear (9) walls. The front and rear walls subtend an obtuse angle with that cause the cut rolls (3, 4, 5, 6) to diverge from each other during discharge. One or both of the front and rear walls has a convex face directed to the discharge zone. Also claimed is a commensurate roll separation process in which the lift/lower platform (8) lowers to subject the rolls to the diverging action of the convex wall faces.
|
