The combustion chamber (2) has its endface limiting wall (4), circumferential limiting wall (8), glow plug connector (12) and possibly its combustion air induction connector (10) all cast in one piece. The glow plug connector is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the combustion chamber, projecting from the circumferential limiting wall. The air induction connector has one end open to the interior of the combustion chamber. A flame trap, e.g. in the form of a curved plate (22), is fitted downstream of the open end. The cast item includes a fixing flange for the combustion chamber, projecting outwards from the endface limiting wall.
