Casting mould for upward casting

The casting mould has shape-imparting inserts (1, 2), between which there is formed a working cavity (3), and a gating system (4) for the supply of molten metal. To avoid the necessity of a movable plug for the gastight inlet channel and the possibility of contact between the seal required between the inlet channel and the casting tube and the melt, the gating system (4) consists of a gastight inlet channel (4) which is connected to the cavity (3) of the mould via an overflow feed duct (6). The latter is gas-permeable during the filling of the mould cavity (3) with molten metal and becomes gastight after the latter has been filled. For this purpose, a lining duct (8) is formed in the overflow feed duct (6), to be precise between the shape-imparting inserts (1, 2) and a spacer insert (7) provided with through openings (71). The gastight inlet channel (4) of the casting mould can be connected via a seal (12) to a movable casting tube (11) which is arranged in the sealed-off chamber (10) with the molten metal. <IMAGE>
