<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical anisotropic layer that can optically compensate for a liquid crystal layer in a state of black display with high precision, and prevent light leak in a wide viewing angle, its manufacturing method, a liquid crystal display having a wide viewing angle and giving a high-quality and high-contrast image, by using an optical compensation element consisting of the optical anisotropic layer, and to provide a liquid crystal projector. <P>SOLUTION: The optical anisotropic layer has at least an orientation film, an intermediate layer are disposed between the organic layers formed of polymerization compounds and showing optical anisotropy; and its manufacturing method is provided. A liquid crystal display which comprises a liquid crystal element, having liquid crystal molecules sealed in a pair of electrodes and between the electrodes, the optically compensated element disposed in one side or both sides of the liquid crystal element, and a polarizing element disposed, in such a manner that it faces the liquid crystal element and the optical compensation element, and a liquid crystal projector that emits illumination light from the light source on the liquid display, focuses the light that has been modulated by the liquid crystal display on the screen by a projection optical system, and displays the image are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
