PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaped article of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic having low volume fraction of carbon fiber and provide a method for producing the article. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber-reinforced shaped plastic article contains spiral carbon fiber bundles 13 arranged at prescribed positions and obtained by twisting carbon fiber bundles 11 each containing 6,000-48,000 single fibers and a cured synthetic resin matrix between the spiral carbon fiber bundles 13.
