PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive torque detection device securing sufficiently stiffness of a shaft for transmitting a torque. SOLUTION: This torque detection device 15 is equipped with: a steering shaft 3; the first and second grooves 21, 22 formed on the circumferential surface 20 of the steering shaft 3 and inclined mutually reversely to the circumferential direction C; and the first and second pressure sensors 16, 17 arranged in the grooves 21, 22. When the steering shaft 3 is rotated in the rotation direction R1, the width 1 of the first groove 21 is expanded at a part where the first projection part 27 is provided, and the width 2 of the second groove 22 is narrowed at a part where the second projection part 28 is provided. A strain is generated in a trapezoid-shaped part 29 of the second pressure sensor 17, and a strain is generated in a strain sensor 30 of the second pressure sensor 17. When the steering shaft 3 is rotated in the rotation direction R2, a strain is generated in the strain sensor 30 of the first pressure sensor 16 by the similar action. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
