PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor facilitating assembly and maintenance-inspection of drive machinery and reducing a width dimension. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor is provided with endless step chains 17 driven with a plurality of steps 18 connected; main sprockets 13 and sub-sprockets wound with the step chains 17 near landing underfloor parts of both landings; driving sprockets 26 provided at driving shafts 15 to which the main sprockets 13 are fixed; the drive machinery for transmitting rotational force to the driving sprockets 26; and a main frame 4 supporting the above components and having a lateral pair of side frames 5A, 5B. Bearings 16 for supporting the ends of the driving shafts 15 are located within the width dimension of the side frames 5A, 5B, and tooth parts of the driving sprockets 26 are located within the width dimension of the bearings 16.
