A hand-held surface sanding or polishing tool e.g. an oscillating or rotary disc polisher, has a main frame over the powered polishing mechanism. The main frame housing has a fixed handle fixed to the top of the housing conversion zone. The tool also has a second handle (30) that may be moved between two positions in which it may be locked.
