PURPOSE:To increase the airtightness of a bipolar separator, to increase cell performance, and to obtain long term stability by filling polyether sulfonate in voids of a bipolar separator by vacuum pressure impregnation process. CONSTITUTION:Polyether sulfonate which is polymer material resistant to phophoric acid is dissolved in organic solvent or low visicosity monomer capable of polymerization, then filled in voids of a bipolar separator by vacuum pressure impregnation process. After impregnation, the separator is dried and cured. By this impregnation process, 20-80% of the voids is filled with the polymer. Therefore, the airtightness of the separator is increased and the long term stability of the cell and cell performance are increased. |
