PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which toner containing a small amount of positively charged toner particles, having a sharp charge amount distribution and excellent in durability in printing on a large number of sheets can be manufactured in a high yield and in a short time. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the toner, external additive particles are externally added in multiple stages to spherical resin particles containing at least a colorant by using a spherical mixing tank with a water-cooling jacket, wherein at the time when the temperature of materials to be treated near a tank wall cooled by the water-cooling jacket after the first external addition is higher than the temperature of material to be treated near a tank wall before the first external addition, external additive particles in the second stage or later are put in and external addition treatment in the second stage or later is started.
