PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make work for grinding an inner circumference surface unnecessary in a metal bushing used for a roller follower for a valve system of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In the roller follower 1 for the valve system of the internal combustion engine having a metal bushing 4 which becomes a sliding bearing is press-fitted in an inner circumference surface of a roller 5, the metal bushing 4 is formed in a double layered cylindrical bushing having a sliding layer 10 made of nonferrous material by drawing of a compound plate of nonferrous material 13 for sliding layer and backing metal steal material 12 on an inner diameter side and a backing metal layer 11 made of steel on an outer diameter side. A metal bushing 4 is press-fitted in the inner circumference surface of the roller 5 and surface roughness of the inner circumference surface of the metal busing 4 is roughly equivalent between before and after press-fitting.
