PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control a stop position of a piston of an internal combustion engine while suppressing generation of vibration. SOLUTION: A plurality of slidable pistons are provided in cylinders (1) 114-(4) 120 of the engine 100. The engine 100 is provided with a plurality of communication tubes (1) 130-(4) 136 keeping communication between cylinders of which combustion orders are consecutive at a time of operation of the engine 100, a plurality of open close valves (1) 122-(4) 128 for making the communication tubes (1) 130-(4) 136 under a communication condition or a shut off condition, and ECU 200 for controlling the plurality of open close valves (1) 122-(4) 128 to stop the piston at a predetermined position at a time of operation stop of the engine 100.
