In a machine for loading pallets, comprising a vertically reciprocable platform 10 which carries a pallet 15 on a rollerway 13 and a horizontally movable table 3 carrying goods 14 to be loaded, the table 3 is raised by the pallet or goods 16 thereon which causes reversal in the direction of movement of the platform 10 through a predetermined distance and subsequent horizontal movement of the table 3 with transfer of the goods 14 from the table on to the pallet. In a cycle of operations the table is brought above the platform 10 where wheels 4 depress contacts 8 to close an electric circuit which causes platform 10 to be raised by chains 11. Subsequent upward displacement of table 3 releases one or more contacts 8, whereupon platform 10 is lowered to a position giving a slight clearance, e.g. a few millimetres, between the pallet or goods thereon and the underside of table 3. With lowering of the platform all contacts 8 are again depressed and the table is withdrawn, a stop (not shown) being positioned in the path of the goods 14 so that they drop on to the pallet. The number and positions of the contacts 8 may be varied.</p> |
