[PROBLEMS] To provide an interior trim material for a vehicle enabling the easy positioning thereof in manufacturing and capable of improving the aesthetic appearance of double stitches by eliminating the kinks of the double stitches and a method of manufacturing the interior trim material. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] This interior trim material for the vehicle comprises a base material (10), a band-like plate (20), and a mounting material (30). The double stitches (34) and (35) are applied to at least the band-like plate (20) and the mounting material (30) to form the interior trim material. The band-like plate (20) comprises a projected part (22) longitudinally formed on the base material (10) side and a core (23) inserted into the projected part (22). The base material (10) comprises a first recessed part (11) capable of storing the entire part of the band-like plate (20) and a second recessed part (12) engaged with the projected part (22) of the band-like plate (20). The mounting material (30) is simultaneously sewn with the band-like plate (20) in the disposed area of the band-like plate (20) and the double stitches (34) and (35) are applied thereto, the band-like plate (20) sewn with the mounting material (30) is positioned at the recessed parts (11) and (12) of the base material (10) and joined to the base material (10).
