A sieve unit for continuous operation has a gravity feed inlet (14) allowing a head of material to force solids against a rotated screen (4) and through holes (28) into a cavity between a rotating, reciprocating drive shaft (2) and a circular bore (13) in a housing (1), to be conveyed to a discharge outlet (41). Foreign material is forced into a discharge bore containing a conveyor screw (35).
