<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stabilizing image density by suppressing the occurrence of banding in the period of rotation speed unevenness of a developer carrier in case of the existence of the rotation speed unevenness of the developer carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The relation (¾Vdc-Vl¾/Rd)(¾Qs¾xsxW)<1 is satisfied when the potential of the development bias to be applied to the developer carrier 23 is defined as Vdc (V), the bright part potential of the exposed area of an image carrier 1 as Vl(V), the electric resistance from a voltage applying means to the developer carrier surface as Rd (Ω), the amount of the electrostatic charge of the developer per unit area on the developer carrier as Qs (C/m<SP>2</SP>), the peripheral speed of the developer carrier as S (m/s) and the development width at which an electrostatic latent image is developed in a development nip formed by the image carrier and the developer carrier as W (m). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
