<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus easily operated even by a specific user while restraining the rise of manufacture cost and the prolongation of a development period and to provide its control method and a program. <P>SOLUTION: When an alternative processing mode is designated as a present action mode, whether or not alternative operation is set to a sensor whose sensor status is changed is decided, and when the alternative operation is set, alternative operation processing is performed. For example, when a cassette #1 is pulled out and inserted in again, the sensor status of the sensor #1 is changed. Since the alternative operation is defined in the sensor #1 as shown by figure, the alternative operation is performed.
