PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing device in which the temperature rise of a non-paper passing section on a fixing belt liable to arise during continuous paper passing of a transfer material of a narrow size is suppressed and stable image quality is assured. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an endless belt, a heating member provided within the endless belt, a stretching member stretching the endless belt, and a pressure roller facing the stretching member, wherein the transfer material is pinched and transported by the endless belt and the pressure roller and the toner image on the transfer material is heated, pressurized and fixed. The heating member is slidably contacted with the inner peripheral surface of the endless belt and a resistive exothermic body is disposed on or near the sliding surface of the endless belt and a heat pipe is abutted and arranged on the heating member.
