PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contamination of a recording sheet due to passing through of toner which arises at the time of the start of driving of a heating roll which is kept stopped thus far. SOLUTION: The fixing device comprises a means (C8A) for controlling the heating roll at the end of a job holding the set time (t1) when the stopped state of the rotary driving of the heating roll (Fh) is set after the end of the job, a means (C8B) for controlling the heating roll in a standby mode for rotationally driving the heating roll (Fh) in the state that a pressure member (Fp) is held isolated from the heating roll (Fh) when the set time (t1) passes by after the end of the job, and a means (C8E) for controlling the heating roll before the start of a new job of cleaning the surface of the heating roll (Fh) by rotationally driving the heating roll (Fh) in the state that the pressure member (Fp) is held isolated before the execution of the fresh job when the fresh job is started before the lapse of the prescribed set time (t1) after the end of the job.
