PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which is suitable to the photographic optical system of digital input/output equipments, such as digital still camera, digital video camera, and which is compact and has a high variable power rate and a shaking correction function and an imaging apparatus using the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is constituted of a plurality of lens groups, and performs variable magnification by changing spacing among groups. The zoom lens is configured by allowing a 1st lens group GR1 having positive refracting power, a 2nd lens group GR2 having negative refracting power, a 3rd lens group GR3 having positive refracting power, a 4th lens group GR4 having positive refracting power and a 5th lens group GR5 having negative refracting power GR5 to be arranged in order from an object side and the zoom lens is characterized in that, the 5th lens group GR5 being the final lens group, which is placed on a most image side, and which has the negative refracting power is fixed in the direction of an optical axis in performing variable magnification and is constituted of a negative front group and a positive rear group, and is configured so as to move the positive rear group or a part of the positive rear group (hereafter, called as " a blurring correction lens group"), and the zoom lens shifts an image by moving the blurring correction lens group in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis.
