PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass short fiber enabling stable operation when heat resistant glass is used as cullet raw material, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This glass short fiber comprises, by weight, 55-70% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 1-<4% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 1-<4% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 10-20% Na<SB>2</SB>O, 0.9-10% K<SB>2</SB>O, 1-12% CaO, 0.1-10% MgO, 0-10% SrO, 0.1-10% BaO, 0-10% ZrO<SB>2</SB>provided that (SrO+BaO) amounts 0.1-12%, and F<SB>2</SB>, P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>and ZnO are substantially not included. The glass short fiber has a devitrification temperature of≤1,000°C, a temperature indicating 10,000 P viscosity of≤1,300°C and the difference between the devitrification temperature and the temperature indicating 1,000 P viscosity of≥100°C.
