PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device and a picture image formation device furnished with the paper feeding device devised possible even for an unhealthy and abnormal person to constantly and properly set a distance between side fences in accordance with size of an original. SOLUTION: A side shifting mechanism 70 is constituted of a pair of side fences 60 to hold an original in the cross direction, a fence moving mechanism 71 to move a pair of the side fences in the original cross direction and an operation lever 76 to operate a moving structure on the automatic original feeding device 20. A guide part 80 to guide operation of the operation lever 76 is provided on a side plate 52 of a table main body 50 facing an operator, this guide part 80 is furnished with a stage type slot lengthy in the operating direction through which the operation lever 76 is passed and a step difference 82 provided on one side of a facing edge part of a step-formed slot 81 orthogonal with the operating direction of the operation lever 76 and to set a position of the operation lever 76 in accordance with size of the original and the operation lever 76 is devised free to elastically deform toward the facing edge part of the step-formed slot 81 orthogonal with the operating direction.
